2016 Cadillac ELR Hybrid

The 2016 Cadillac ELR is a luxurious and attractive car which
has an improved power and reduced pricing, when compared to the
2014 ELR model.

Exterior

The 2016 Cadillac ELR is a 2-door plug-in hybrid coupe, with
4-passengers seating. It is available in only one trim level.

As for the exterior, the standard features include 20” alloy
wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, front and rear parking
sensors, a rearview camera, and LED headlights with automatic
high-beam control.

The styling remains pretty much the same. Apart from the
chromed trapezoidal grille, ELR’s front fascia and short hood
will retain the angular headlights that spiral upward. At the
rear end, the vehicle introduces angular boomerang-looking
taillights, with chrome adornments present on all sides. Roof
starts to fall early and thick D-pillars don’t help ELR’s rear
outward visibility either.

2016 Cadillac ELR Interior

The cabin of the new Cadillac ELR 2016 includes a nicely
shaped dashboard and doors covered with leather and simulated
suede amalgamations. The infotainment touchscreen controls
audio, climate, navigation and phone functions. However,
sometimes it responds slowly or even doesn’t respond to touch
inputs at all.

Some of the standard features include heated mirrors, keyless
ignition and entry, remote ignition, dual-zone automatic
climate control, 8-way power and heated front seats, folding
rear seats, leather upholstery, a power tilt-and-telescoping
and heated steering wheel, Bluetooth phone and audio
connectivity, an 8” touchscreen display with the CUE interface,
voice controls, a navigation system and a 10-speaker Bose sound
system with satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and a USB
interface.

When it comes to the standard safety features, there is an
OnStar emergency communications system with 4G LTE, built-in
Wi-Fi hotspot, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic
alerts, lane departure and forward collision warning systems
and Cadillac’s Safety Alert Seat. What is new for 2016 is
wireless charging capability for the ELR’s battery pack.

The 2014 Cadillac ELR’s 2+2 layout is driver-focused and luxurious – distinctive for its craftsmanship and connectivity. The leather-trimmed interior blends authentic chrome and wood accents – and available carbon fiber trim – as well as a sumptuous microfiber headliner and steering wheel covered in leather and sueded microfiber. The ELR is the industry’s only electric vehicle offered by a full-line luxury automaker. Production starts in late 2013.

Engine Specs and performance

The 2016 Cadillac ELR is powered by an electric motor that
delivers 157 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This
motor is powered by a 17.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack until
the battery is used up, and a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder gasoline
engine is used to power the electric motor. The gasoline engine
is used as an electricity generator for the electric motor.

There are Normal, Hold, Sport and Mountain modes designed to
maximize the performance and efficiency in different
situations. In the Sport mode, the vehicle is able to develop
acceleration 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds. Total system output in
Sport mode is 233 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque.

The fuel efficiency has not yet been rated, but it’s expected
to remain the same.

The 2014 Cadillac ELR luxury coupe cuts a dramatic, forward-leaning profile that remains faithful in its execution to the Art & Science design philosophy and the Converj show car that inspired it. The ELR is the industry’s only electric vehicle offered by a full-line luxury automaker. Production starts in late 2013.

Price and release date

According to the manufacturer, after federal tax rebates, the
2016 Cadillac ELR will be available for $58,495, which is
$10,000 cheaper than the 2014 model.

The release date is not officially known, but the vehicle is
expected to arrive to the market by the end of this year.
